Evan Raines is an actor and multi-instrumentalist based in Philadelphia, PA. He has freelanced for over a decade, performing in numerous theatrical shows throughout Philadelphia and beyond. He has facilitated writers workshops in schools with Philadelphia Young Playwrights for over 6 years and spent 2 years with the School District of Philadelphia.
Evan has been fiddling since he was a lad, starting out with Suzuki and later learning fiddle tunes at the Commodore Barry Irish Center in Chestnut Hill. He has played with Gracie and the So-Beautifuls, a dream-pop band that was featured as the onstage band of The Wilma’s very punk-rock adaptation of Romeo & Juliet. This past year he has inherited an education in oldtime country and bluegrass tunes by playing a number of jukebox musicals at regional theaters across the country. A recent highlight has been playing the many incarnations of Lucifer in the sold-out world premier of Douglass Waterbury Tieman’s “Johnny & the Devil’s Box” at the Cumberland County Playhouse. He has also studied piano, mandolin, upright bass, and banjo.
