Evan Raines is an actor and multi-instrumentalist based in Philadelphia, PA. He has freelanced for over a decade, performing in numerous theatrical shows throughout Philadelphia and beyond. He has facilitated writers workshops in schools with Philadelphia Young Playwrights for over 6 years and spent 2 years with the School District of Philadelphia. Recently he appeared as a member of the Coal Diggers Band in The 2024 Medora Musical, performing for thousands of audience members each weekend in the badlands of Medora, North Dakota.
Evan has been fiddling since he was a lad, starting out with Suzuki and later learning fiddle tunes at the Commodore Barry Irish Center in Chestnut Hill. He has played with Gracie and the So-Beautifuls, a dream-pop band that was featured as the onstage band of The Wilma’s very punk-rock adaptation of Romeo & Juliet. This past year he has inherited an education in oldtime country and bluegrass tunes by playing a number of jukebox musicals at regional theaters across the country. A recent highlight has been playing the many incarnations of Lucifer in the sold-out world premier of Douglass Waterbury Tieman’s “Johnny & the Devil’s Box” at the Cumberland County Playhouse. He has also studied piano, mandolin, upright bass, and banjo.
